About the Program

Certificate in Cardiac Electrophysiology (CEP)

Do you want a fuller understanding of the work you do each day in the Cath/EP Lab? Are you curious about the science and theory behind cardiac electrophysiology? Would you like to earn respected credentials that show you are among the best at your profession? Then this academic certificate in Cardiac Electrophysiology (CEP) is for you!

Because this is an academic certificate, you’ll earn 16 undergraduate credits and be eligible for financial aid, if you qualify. The program builds upon the skills you’ve gained in your day-to-day work and through your previous training. But it goes beyond experiences in the lab by providing deep theoretical knowledge from the sciences, and practical knowledge of various devices. You will be a trusted subject matter expert within your unit and across your industry.

Remember this academic certificate is for working professionals employed in an EP or Cath Lab. If you’d like to become a cardiac electrophysiology specialist, our Cardiac Electrophysiology Program is for you.

Your Educational Experience

The CEP program is designed for working professionals, so it’s flexible. As a student, you’ll learn online, part-time, with weekly assessments to ensure you are able to apply theory and knowledge to the procedures in the lab. You’ll finish all 16 credits in just three semesters, which includes a summer term. So just one year after beginning, you can be eligible to sit for the RCES or IBHRE CEPS certification exam.

Career Opportunities With Your CEP

Cardiac Electrophysiology is a critically needed allied health discipline whose practitioners are in very short supply. That is why many Cath and EP Labs employ a wide range of personnel, from RNs to Rad Techs and Physicians’ Assistants. Perhaps you joined your lab under similar circumstances, and now wish to set yourself apart from your colleagues. This program can help.

With the knowledge, experience, and potential credentials that can come from completing this program, you could find yourself poised for advancement within your organization and beyond. But you also gain great flexibility, because if you choose to sit for a certification exam like the RCES and are successful, you could also discover opportunities to branch out within healthcare or industry. Manufacturers, sales and service providers, laboratories, and many other employers are eager to recruit candidates who have the experience and credentials that can come from this CEP program.
